Peace
Have you ever been at the lake when it was so calm that you could see your reflection staring back at you? It is an amazing experience. Proverbs 27:19 says, "As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man." Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." "How do these 2 verses fit together?" you might be wondering, but, keep reading! If you think about what the conditions of the water must be so that it can reflect, it comes down to being peaceful. The water in a lake must be peaceful in order to reflect, it comes down to being peaceful.
It is the same concept with our hearts. When our hearts are at peace, we reflect the nature of God. God is peace, the peace that "passes all understanding." As we abide in the Lord and remain pure before Him, we serve as water or a mirror that is constantly reflecting the nature of God. We see His likeness in our lives and others see it as well. May it be said of us that we are constantly reflecting the heart of God to the world around us as we keep our faces fixed on the Lord!
