The Desires of Your Heart

Psalm 37:4 "Delight in the Lord and He hill give you the desires of your heart."

This week I have been listening to a lot of Podcasts from Louie Giglio, a college pastor out of Georgia responsible  for the Passion Movement.  His series this month was about finding God's will and wanting to know what you are supposed to do with your life.  One of the statements he made really stuck out to me and it was this, "God is not interested in being the information guy at the mall."  At first I didn't really know what he was trying to say but when I thought about it I realized it was a very deep statement.

What Louie was saying was that God does not just want to point us in the right direction like someone at an information booth.  God wants to lead us in our journey because our ultimate purpose in life is to fulfill God's plan for us.  We have to realize that we are not the ones who are important.  It's not about what we get to do, it's about what God has called us to do in order to fulfill his ultimate plant for the world.  The verse that Louie used was Psalm 37:4, "Delight in the Lord and he gill give you the desires of your heart."  Many times in my life I have ignored the first part and just wanted to remember, "He will give you the deisres of your heart."  But this verse is again not about what we want, but about delighting ourselves in the Lord.  This means to seek after Him, to love Him, to do what He wants, and THEN He will give us the desires of our heart.

I encourage you today that if you are looking for direction in your life, don't begin to ask God a million questions, but instead make the decision to get into the Word, to worship God, and delight in Him.  If you do this, God will give you the desires of your heart and He will show you and lead you in which way to go.  You and God, hand in hand, will begin to walk out your story as it fits into His story.
